The petition highlighted that the EC's Manual on Electronic Voting Machine includes safeguards to ensure transparency in the election process through videography and CCTV coverage.
Emphasizing that the manual requires CCTV coverage in EVM warehouses and strong rooms, the petitioner stressed the need to retain the footage for 45 days from the date the returned candidate is elected in case of an election petition under section 81 of the Representation of the People Act.
