Swati Maliwal, the Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP, faced serious allegations of being physically assaulted at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence. The Delhi Police registered a case following the accusation. Kejriwal's personal secretary, Bibhav Kumar, was accused of misconduct and assaulting Maliwal, leading to his arrest by the police. The incident is under investigation. In response to queries about her intentions, Maliwal stated that she is not attached to her position as an MP and would have willingly resigned if requested.

Despite feeling targeted, she affirmed her decision not to step down. Regarding support from the party, Maliwal mentioned being contacted by MP Sanjay Singh, but noted the absence of communication from Chief Minister Kejriwal. Addressing rumors of AAP MPs being asked to resign, Maliwal stated she had not received any such directives. She expressed willingness to make sacrifices for the party if approached with respect. Kejriwal called for a fair investigation and justice in Maliwal's case, emphasizing the importance of a thorough inquiry.
