New Delhi: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to increase the toll rates by up to five per cent from today. After the completion of seven phases of Lok Sabha elections, it will be more expensive for people to travel on national highways. From the midnight of June 2, toll rates on all highways in the country are increasing.
NHAI officials said that toll rates are increased every year. This is an annual process. The hike was earlier scheduled, but the Election Commission had directed that toll rates should not be increased during the period of the model code of conduct. Due to this, the increase in toll rates was stopped during the elections. Toll rates are now being increased by 3 to 5 percent from June 3, 2024. From Monday, toll rates will be increased at 1,100 toll plazas across the country.
