In a groundbreaking announcement, Etihad Rail has unveiled the journey times for its highly anticipated passenger train service, promising to revolutionize travel across the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This state-of-the-art rail network, one of the largest infrastructure projects in the UAE, aims to connect eleven cities and regions, making travel more efficient and accessible for residents and tourists alike. Key journey times released by Etihad Rail indicate a significant reduction in travel durations. The trip from Abu Dhabi to Dubai, which typically takes around two hours by car, will now be completed in just 57 minutes.
Other notable connections include a 70-minute journey from Abu Dhabi to Al Ruwais, spanning 240 kilometers, and a 105-minute ride connecting the capital to Fujairah in the eastern emirate. The rail service will connect various key locations, including Al Sila, Ruwais, Al Mirfa, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Al Dhaid, and Fujairah. Once operational, the passenger trains, capable of reaching speeds of up to 200 kilometers per hour, are expected to accommodate up to 400 passengers per train and serve approximately 36.5 million passengers annually.
