Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh – Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced on Wednesday that the much-anticipated Bandar Port in Machilipatnam will be completed by December 2025. Following a review of the ongoing construction works, Naidu urged officials to expedite the process to ensure timely completion. The Chief Minister highlighted the allocation of an additional 38.32 acres of land, which is essential for the port's development.

He criticized the previous YSRCP government for neglecting the port project, which has an estimated cost of ₹3,669 crore. “There has been a lack of progress in the port works, but now we are committed to seeing them through,” he stated, emphasizing that the first four berths would be operational upon completion, with potential for expansion to 16 berths as per the master plan. Naidu expressed optimism that the completion of the port will significantly benefit the development of Machilipatnam, located near Amaravati, the state capital.

He outlined plans to improve road connectivity, establish a police training center, and enhance water supply to the area. He also indicated that converting the port into a container port could positively impact neighboring states, such as Telangana. Recollecting the decades-long struggle for the Bandar Port, Naidu affirmed that he would push forward with ongoing works and attract more industries to the region. “We will get clarity on BPCL soon,” he added, referring to potential industrial developments connected to the port.

In a separate announcement, Naidu revealed that action would be taken against a local YSRCP party office constructed on police land, pending further investigation into the matter. Earlier in the day, CM Naidu participated in the ‘Swachata Hi Seva’ initiative, encouraging citizens to become representatives of cleanliness and commit to transforming Andhra Pradesh into a "Swachh Andhra Pradesh" by 2029.

He emphasized the importance of respecting sanitary workers, describing them as the true "Swachh servants" of the state. During the event, he personally served tea to sanitary workers and engaged in conversations to discuss their contributions.

As the Bandar Port project moves forward, the commitment from the Chief Minister and his administration signals a renewed focus on infrastructure development and economic growth for the region.
