Raichur : A Class III student was allegedly beaten up by a group of men for allegedly stealing a pen from an ashram in Karnataka's Raichur district. His family alleged that he was beaten with sticks and confined to a room for three days. The News India reported.

Tarun Kumar, a resident of Ramakrishna Ashram in Raichur, was severely beaten up by the in-charge Venugopal and his accomplices.

"Two older boys and a teacher killed me. They hit me with a wooden stick and when it broke, they used a bat. They also injured me. They took me to Yagdir to beg at the railway station, but I did not get the money, "the boy said.

The child suffered multiple injuries.
The boy suffered multiple injuries and his eyes were swollen. He has been admitted to a hospital and is undergoing treatment. According to the boy's family, he was staying at the ashram due to their adverse financial condition. While playing, his classmates accused him of stealing a pen and informed the incident to the ashram authorities, who mercilessly thrashed the boy. The incident came to light when the youth's mother visited the Ramakrishna Ashram.
My son didn't steal a pen
"My son's name is Karan. He's in the third grade. My second son, Arun Kumar, is in the fifth grade. I left both of them in the shelter. When I went to meet him, my elder son Arun told me how the youth was attacked and how his face was bruised, "said the victim's mother. The mother denied the allegation that her son had stolen the pen, saying, "He picked up the fallen pen and kept it aside. "

While searching for the pen on Sunday, the teacher found it on my son and the entire incident took place with a pen, "she said. The mother has also alleged that the child will become a thief in the future if he is not treated like "stealing a pen."

The teacher hit my son with two belts, blindfolded him and tied his hands. The teacher held his legs and hands and beat him till midnight, "the mother alleged.

Child rights activist Sudarshan said the boy has been rescued and the matter has been taken up with government officials in the Ministry of Women and Child Welfare. An FIR has been registered against the accused, he added.
