Burj Khalifa Shines in Solidarity with Lebanon Amid Ongoing Crisis

Dubai, UAE – In a powerful display of solidarity, the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, illuminated its façade with the colors of the Lebanese flag and a map of Lebanon on Monday night as part of the "UAE Stands with Lebanon" campaign. This initiative, launched by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to support Lebanon during a tumultuous period, signals empathy and support for a nation grappling with adversity. The iconic lighting of the Burj Khalifa was among several structures participating in this campaign, which also included the Mubadala Tower and the ADNOC Building.

This collective effort reflects the shared unity and fraternal sentiment between the UAE and Lebanon, as stated by the Emirates News Agency (WAM). Launched on October 8 and running through October 21, the campaign was initiated by President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice President Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with oversight from Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. In conjunction with the visual displays of support, the campaign has successfully collected 20,000 boxes of relief aid, food parcels, and shelter supplies, which are being distributed from the Dubai Exhibition Centre and Abu Dhabi Ports Cruise Terminal.

The initiative comes at a time of heightened tension in Lebanon, exacerbated by recent Israeli airstrikes that have intensified since September 23. The ongoing conflict has led to a tragic toll, with Lebanon’s Health Ministry reporting 2,306 deaths and 10,696 injuries since the escalation began. The situation has seen Hezbollah engaging in skirmishes across the Lebanese-Israeli border, further complicating an already dire humanitarian crisis.

As the UAE stands in solidarity with Lebanon, the "UAE Stands with Lebanon" campaign serves as a beacon of hope and resilience, reminding the world of the power of compassion in the face of adversity. Community members and international observers alike are encouraged to join this important initiative and extend their support to those affected by the conflict.
