Mansa, Punjab – In a significant development in the ongoing fight against organized crime, Punjab’s Director General of Police (DGP) Yadav announced the arrest of Shimla Singh, an aide of Canada-based gangster Dalla, implicated in a recent grenade attack. Singh reportedly confessed to his involvement in the attack, revealing that he acquired the grenade from Garhshankar under Dalla’s instructions. This arrest comes just three days after law enforcement apprehended two shooters, Anmolpreet Singh and Navjot Singh, for the murder of Gurpreet Singh Hari Nau, also known as Bhodi. It is alleged that this murder was orchestrated by the notorious terrorist Dalla on October 9. On the night of October 26, a hand-grenade was detonated at a petrol pump in Mansa, resulting in chaos and panic.
Following the explosion, the owner of the establishment received a threatening call from an international mobile number, in which the caller claimed responsibility for the attack and demanded an extortion sum of Rs 5 crore. DGP Yadav detailed Singh’s confession, stating that he had not only played a role in the grenade incident but had also provided logistical support to the shooters involved in the murder of Gurpreet Singh. “Preliminary investigations indicate that Singh has a history of criminal activities.
In April 2023, we thwarted his plans to target an individual from Uttarakhand, leading to his arrest along with three pistols,” Yadav said. The situation has prompted the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to delve deeper into the case, with AIG Avneet Kaur Sidhu confirming that Singh was apprehended on Khokhar Road in Mansa. Ongoing investigations are expected to uncover further connections and may lead to additional arrests in the conspiracy linked to Dalla’s criminal enterprise. Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities as they continue their crackdown on organized crime in the region.
