Sources close to the investigation disclosed on Friday that these lapses could hinder the pursuit of justice. The first major issue identified was the shockingly brief time allocated for the examination of the victim's body.
According to the magistrate’s report, the judicial officer only had 20 minutes to inspect the body, an inadequately short duration given the gravity of the case. In legal terms, an inquest report serves as a crucial document that records findings from investigations into sudden or violent deaths, aimed at establishing the cause and nature of death. Sources indicated that the haste in preparing the inquest report was reminiscent of the expedited autopsy process, which was completed in just 70 minutes. Furthermore, officials pointed out the absence of detailed descriptions of the wounds on the victim's body in the report. This lack of crucial information raises serious questions about the thoroughness of the investigation conducted by the initial responding authorities. Additionally, there were noted discrepancies between the findings in the post-mortem report and the seizure list provided by the city police, who managed the case before the CBI took over following a Supreme Court directive.
