Ahmedabad — Union Minister Amit Shah announced on Friday that the Indian government is set to add 75,000 medical seats across the country over the next ten years, a significant move aimed at improving healthcare facilities for citizens. Shah made this declaration during his visit to Adalaj village, where he inaugurated the newly established trust-run hospital, 'Hiramani Arogyadham.' In his address to the gathering, Shah highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s comprehensive approach to enhancing the healthcare sector.
Following that, he concentrated on providing access to clean drinking water and establishing toilets in every household to combat health issues,” Shah explained. He further noted the introduction of Yoga and the Ayushman Bharat scheme, which offers free treatment coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh for low-income families. Shah emphasized that to effectively implement the Ayushman Bharat scheme, the government has prioritized the upgrading of primary and community health centers, alongside the establishment of new medical colleges.

Additionally, Shah mentioned the government's initiative to create a network of pharmacy stores that will sell affordable generic medicines, reinforcing the Centre's holistic approach to healthcare. The Union Minister noted that the Modi government has successfully launched and implemented 37 different schemes, all aimed at benefiting the nation’s 1.4 billion citizens. Shah is currently on a two-day visit to Gujarat, during which he is expected to engage in various activities related to health and community welfare.
