Akola – A vibrant celebration of democracy unfolded today in Akola district as voters turned out in impressive numbers for the assembly elections. With eager citizens lining up outside polling stations since early morning, the district recorded an average voter turnout of approximately 65% by the end of the day. The polling process began earnestly at 7 am, with voters arriving in droves. Initial reports indicated a modest turnout of 6.08% in the first two hours, which quickly gained momentum as the day progressed. By 11 am, voter turnout surged to 16.34%, and by 1 pm, it reached 29.87%. The afternoon saw a significant increase in participation, with 44.45% of eligible voters having cast their ballots by 3 pm.
Despite a few hiccups, including a malfunction of voting machines at BR High School in Akola and Wadegaon in Balapur taluka, officials were quick to respond with alternative arrangements, ensuring the voting process remained largely smooth.
