A rock suddenly broke in Dabrani near Uttarkashi Gangotri highway, under which some people were buried. Rescue and relief teams were rushed to the spot after getting information. According to the information received, a fire has also broken out in the hills near Dabrani. where the rock is broken.

One person was killed and 12 others were injured in the incident. Three of the seriously injured were airlifted to AIIMS, Rishikesh. Dr Vikram Mandal, in-charge medical officer of primary health centre Harshil, said three of the seriously injured have been airlifted. Other patients will be referred to the district hospital if needed.

On being informed about the mishap, police reached the spot and initiated rescue operation. One person was killed and five injured. The injured have been sent to hospital for treatment. Stones are still falling from the mountain. The traffic has been stopped District Magistrate Dr. Meharban Singh Bisht directed the relief and rescue teams to reach the spot immediately.

Fire brigade, police, NDRF, SDRF and disaster management teams have reached the spot. Traffic on both sides of the national highway has been suspended. Around 500 vehicles were stranded between Gangotri and Harshil. The work of removing the boulder from the route was underway, after which the route has now been opened for movement.
