Hyderabad — In a swift operation, the Kacheguda police have apprehended two individuals, including a juvenile, for their involvement in a string of phone snatchings across the city. The arrests took place on Friday, marking a significant step in combating mobile thefts in the area. The adult suspect has been identified as Shetty Rakesh, a 23-year-old resident of Injapur. Authorities recovered four stolen smartphones from the duo’s possession, shedding light on their illicit activities. According to police reports, Rakesh and the minor, who has not been named, were friends and had been working together as laborers. However, to support their vices, they resorted to snatching mobile phones from unsuspecting individuals.

The police detailed that the pair would cruise around the city on Rakesh's motorcycle, strategically targeting pedestrians to snatch their handbags and phones. Their brazen approach to crime has raised significant concerns among local residents, prompting increased police vigilance. Both individuals have been charged under Section 304 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for their snatching activities. The arrests were conducted under the supervision of K Chandra Kumar, Inspector of Kacheguda police station, who emphasized the importance of community safety. In a separate incident on the same day, the Cyberabad police successfully apprehended a gang involved in two notable robberies.

The suspects, identified as Beerbal Singh Beebanu, Bhagender Singh (also known as Bablu Singh), Ravi Singh Bowri, and Dandu Nagesh (also referred to as Bablu), were arrested by the KPHB police in collaboration with the Central Crime Station Balanagar police. Police authorities revealed that the gang operated in a highly coordinated manner, with members assigned specific roles, including surveillance of the area while others executed the robberies. “Their motive for these crimes was to fund their lavish lifestyles,” stated the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), highlighting the ongoing battle against organized crime in the region. As law enforcement agencies continue to crack down on criminal activities, community members are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior to help ensure the safety of their neighborhoods.
