IMD Predicts Heavy Rainfall Across Maharashtra During Ganesh Chaturthi Festivities

Maharashtra weather update.
Ganesh Chaturthi has started. There is an atmosphere of joy and happiness all around. Rains are also accompanied by thunderstorms. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall in Mumbai today. (Pune Rains)

The weather department has sounded a rain alert in various parts of the state. Thunderstorm accompanied with gusty winds very likely at isolated places over Amravati, Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nagpur and Wardha. Heavy rainfall is also expected in Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Pune and Satara districts of Maharashtra. (Maharashtra Weather Update)


Nashik and Kolhapur districts are also expected to receive heavy rainfall. Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning, light to moderate rain and gusty winds speed reaching 30 to 40 kmph very likely at isolated places over the districts of Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Aurangabad, Jalna, Parbhani, Hingoli and Nanded.

Due to the formation of a low pressure in the Bay of Bengal, the monsoon winds have become active again.
Pune city and its suburbs are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall for the next few days.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Pune, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts, predicting extremely heavy rainfall in the areas. An orange alert has been issued for Pune, Satara, Raigad, Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri districts from September 7 to 9.


A yellow alert has been issued in most parts of the state.
