9 children died after a wall collapsed during a religious event in Shahpur village in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh. The condition of four children is said to be serious. The incident took place when a Shivling was being made at the Hardayal temple in Shahpur village. Sagar district collector Deepak Arya said that the wall of the dilapidated house collapsed due to heavy rains.
Due to the holiday of Sunday school, many children had gathered here to make Shivalinga. Then the wall collapsed. A bulldozer had to be brought in to pull the children out from under the rubble of the wall.
The wall collapsed due to incessant rain over the past few days. The incident took place at around 8.30 pm today. Nine children died under the rubble.
Rs five lac compensation is being given to the families of the dead.
He also announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh to the families of the deceased. He also directed the district administration to ensure proper treatment to the injured. Mohan Yadav said, "I am shocked to hear about the death of nine children in a wall collapse in Shahpur village of Sagar district.
Condolences to the families who lost their children. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced financial assistance of Rs four lakh each to the families of the deceased.
