Mumbai: A separate monsoon emergency control room has been made operational for Dahisar-Andheri West Metro 2A, Dahisar-Gundavali Metro 7 and Chembur-Jacob Circle Monorail. The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMMCL), which is responsible for the operation and maintenance of both the metro lines and the monorail, has made this cell operational. The maintenance and repair work of Metro and Mono has also been completed in view of the rainy season. Necessary steps have been taken for the rain.
This cell will work to ensure that Metro 2A, Metro 7 and Mono services remain smooth during the rainy season and if there is any problem during the rainy season, it should be resolved immediately. The 24-hour control room will be attached to the Mumbai Municipal Corporation's emergency control room. Metro and Monorail passengers can call the helpline numbers 18008890505 / 18008890808 in case of emergency. Citizens can also contact the Monorail emergency control room on mobile number 8452905434.
Anemometers have been installed at ten metro stations of Metro 2A and 7 in order to accurately plan metro operations by monitoring the wind speed in the rain. Since the anemometer accurately measures wind speed, it will be useful for real-time monitoring. A team of skilled Metro officials will be working round the clock in three shifts using state-of-the-art technology within the premises of MMMOCL to ensure uninterrupted Metro services and mitigate any risks arising out of adverse weather conditions.
In order to ensure the safety of metro commuters, MMMCL has installed 64 CCTV cameras at each metro station. All pre-monsoon maintenance and repair works at metro-mono stations and depots have been completed. MMMOCA has carried out a through inspection of the entire alignment of the metro and monorail to find out any hoardings, hoardings or any other possible obstructions that may disrupt the services of the metro and monorail. In addition, branches of trees are also being pruned where necessary.
