Mumbai, India – In a significant move to improve passenger convenience, the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) has launched a special free bus service connecting the T-2 Terminal Metro Station with the Airport’s P4 Entry. This initiative falls under the 'Multi-Model Integration' service, designed to facilitate seamless travel for Metro passengers. Currently, about 25,000 commuters utilize the Aarey-BKC route of the ‘Kulaba-Bandre-Seepz Metro 3’ line daily. Despite the inauguration of the first phase of the underground journey between Aarey and BKC, the metro’s usage has been underwhelming due to inadequate facilities for travelers needing to reach their final destinations from the stations.

Passengers have expressed frustration over the lack of transport options, prompting many to avoid the metro altogether. Addressing these concerns, Ashwini Bhide, Managing Director of MMRC, stated, “We have implemented necessary facilities through MMRC to ensure passengers can easily reach their desired locations via our Multi-modal integration service at the ten metro stations along the Aarey-BKC route.” The new bus service will operate from 6:30 AM to 11 PM on weekdays and from 8:15 AM to 11 PM on Sundays.

With a capacity of 21 passengers, buses will depart every 15 minutes, ensuring timely transfers for travelers. In collaboration with the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST), Traffic Police, and the Airport Authority, MMRC is also working on several infrastructure improvements, including the construction of new bus routes and bus stops, as well as pedestrian bridges to enhance accessibility. By November 15, all stations along the Aarey-BKC route are expected to be interconnected with BEST buses, providing a comprehensive transport solution for commuters.
