Notices have been issued to nine people, including the deputy commissioner of the encroachment removal department, six zonal officers, for failing to take action against unauthorised constructions, leaflets, hotels, pubs and bars in different parts of the city. The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has also issued instructions to the encroachers along the river banks to remove the encroachments.

Pimpri-Chinchwad is surrounded by three rivers - Pavana, Indrayani and Mula. There has been heavy flooding and landslides along the river. As a result of the recent rains, the water level in the river has gone down. More than 5,000 people had to be evacuated. Illegal constructions, encroachments on footpaths and footpaths have been reported from various parts of the city.


The action was being taken by the encroachment removal department. According to Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale, nine notices have been issued to the Deputy Commissioner, six field officers and two beat inspectors of the encroachment removal department.

The authorities have been instructed to remove the encroachments from the river banks. Whether to take action against such encroachments now or after the monsoon, a decision will be taken after discussing with the Commissioner. There are eight regional offices in the city.
