Prabhat Road, Pune : An online cheating fraud case has come to light in which cyber thieves took away Rs 11,81,992 from the account of an elderly woman by accessing her mobile.
A 76-year-old woman has lodged a complaint at the Deccan Police Station. The incident took place on Saturday (January 24). (Pune Cyber Crime News)
According to the police, the victim was at home when he received the call. The caller pretended that he was speaking from MSEB. A link was sent to them stating that their power supply would be disconnected. They downloaded it. The accused gained access to the complainant's mobile phone and withdrew Rs 11,81,992 from her account. The case, which took place in January, has now been filed and the Deccan police are investigating further.
