A recent incident has surfaced where a policeman allegedly assaulted a youth with a steel rod, resulting in injuries. The incident occurred in Swargate Police Station around 12:30 AM on Thursday night. A case registered at Khadak police station under IPC sections 324, 504, and 427.
In this case, Somnath Rajaram Shedge, aged 45 and a resident of Ghorpade Peth, filed a complaint. According to Khadak police, Shedge and a friend had parked their motorcycle at the Swargate Police Colony. Shedge went to retrieve the motorcycle when Mangesh Dilip Kamble, the police constable handling the case, questioned him about his presence in the police colony.
This led to an exchange of words and when Shedge inquired about the reason for the questioning, Kamble allegedly struck him in the face with a steel plate and further assaulted him with a steel rod, resulting in injuries. During the altercation, Shedge wrist watch and neck chain were damaged. Assistant Inspector Sonawane is currently conducting further investigations into the matter.
