The cyber police of Pune have arrested a painter from Chennai for hacking the D Mat account of a businessman and selling his shares on his own account. Similarly, it has been revealed that he has cheated 7 to 8 people and another case has been registered in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

The accused has been identified as Venkatesh. It was found that he had cheated the complainant of Rs 70 lakh in Pune. He works as a painter in Chennai.


According to the police, the accused used to link the primary mail ID and primary mobile number of the complainant's DMAT account in Pune to his own mail ID and mobile number. The shares in the DMAT account were transferred to his own DMAT account. The complainant's shares worth Rs 70 lakh were transferred by the accused to his own Bajaj Securities DMAT account by hacking the DMAT account linked to the complainant's depository CDSL. He then transferred the money to his own account in Punjab National Bank. Later, he withdrew the money from the ATM.

Similarly, Venkatesan Vardhan has cheated a man of Rs 2 lakh at Cidco police station in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Apart from this, it has been revealed that he cheated 7 to 8 more people.

Sub-Inspector Himalaya Joshi said, "Venkatesan Vardhan says he is a painter. He seems to be taking this data from someone. He has two sons and a daughter. He appears to have paid off the home loan with this money. It is being investigated how he obtained the demat account ID and password from CDSL.


If anyone else has been cheated in this way, they are urged to contact the cyber police station. Under the guidance of the superintendent of police (SP) Rahul Khade, in charge additional SP Roopchand Waghmare, the action was taken by Reshma Saudagar, Prakash Ghughre, Rajendra Sinkar, Ashok Nagargoje and Chandrakant Shinde.
