Pune: Liquor shop gutted in fire Rs 1.76 lakh destroyed

The Lonikand police have busted a village liquor distillery on the banks of Indrayani river near Handgar village in Bhavadi area. The police have recovered Rs 1.76 lakh cash and other valuables from them. The accused has been identified as Jivan Rajaram Sathe (25).

The police had received complaints from the people that illegal liquor business was going on in the area under the limits of Lonikand police station. The police were ordered to take action. The investigation team came to know about the hand furnace installed by Jivan Sathe in the basin of Indrayani river near Handgar Vasti in the limits of Bhavadi village. Following this, the police raided the liquor shops. The team seized 210 liters of liquor, 30 thousand liters of chemicals, iron barrels for distilling liquor, a total of Rs 1,76,000 and destroyed it on the spot.
The action was taken by Additional Commissioner of Police, East Zone, Manoj Patil.
