Moscow – In a recent media interaction, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed gratitude for the concern shown by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Putin described Modi as a "friend" and acknowledged the positive communications between the two leaders. Responding to questions about India’s potential role in mediating peace talks, Putin emphasized that the situation remains complex. He indicated that while negotiations are desired, it is challenging to establish a definitive timeline for the conflict's resolution, citing that doing so could be counterproductive.
The Russian leader insisted that external forces, particularly the United States and NATO, have played a significant role in escalating the conflict, claiming that his country would ultimately prevail against what he termed a prolonged aggression. He expressed confidence in the capabilities of the Russian armed forces, stating that they have evolved into one of the most effective and technologically advanced military forces globally. Putin also conveyed his belief that NATO would eventually tire of its efforts against Russia, asserting, “We will have the upper hand.
We’ll win. We’ll prevail.” In earlier remarks, the Russian president had identified India, China, and Brazil as key nations with which Russia is engaging regarding the ongoing situation, hinting at a broader international dialogue surrounding the conflict. As the war continues to evolve, the Kremlin’s openness to negotiation may mark a pivotal moment in the search for peace, although the path forward remains uncertain.
