Jaipur — In a significant crackdown on corruption, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Rajasthan conducted extensive searches on Wednesday at various locations linked to Kota Divisional Commissioner Rajendra Vijay, following allegations of his involvement in a disproportionate assets case. During the operation, ACB officials uncovered a trove of incriminating evidence, including documents pertaining to 13 commercial and residential plots.
The raids also yielded Rs 2.22 lakh in cash, 335 grams of gold ornaments, and 11.8 kilograms of silver jewelry. Additionally, investigators discovered three four-wheelers, life insurance policy documents, details of 16 bank accounts, and a bank locker, which is yet to be searched. In light of the ongoing investigation, the Rajasthan government quickly removed Vijay from his position, placing him under ‘Awaiting Posting Order’ status. This swift action reflects the government’s commitment to tackling corruption within its ranks.
A senior official from the ACB stated that the inquiry was initiated following multiple complaints alleging that Vijay possessed assets significantly exceeding his legal income. After assessing the properties and calculating their values, the ACB determined that the case warranted further investigation, leading to the registration of an FIR and the acquisition of a search warrant from the court. The large-scale search operation commenced early Wednesday morning across multiple locations in Kota, Jaipur, and Dausa, with officials indicating that it was expected to conclude by evening.
Rajendra Vijay, who was appointed as the Kota Divisional Commissioner just last week, previously served as the district collector for Baran and Balotra. In the wake of the investigations, the Rajasthan government’s personnel department has assigned the additional responsibilities of the post to Kota Collector Ravindra Goswami.
As the ACB continues its investigation, this case serves as a reminder of the government’s ongoing efforts to root out corruption and uphold integrity within public service in Rajasthan. The findings of the raids may lead to further legal actions against the officer if the evidence substantiates the allegations of disproportionate assets.
