Satara, Maharashtra — In a startling revelation, the Bhujanj police have successfully uncovered a scheme involving the circulation of counterfeit currency amounting to 14 million rupees. The operation led to the arrest of two individuals, identified as Nilesh Shivaji Patil, a driver from Pachgaon, Kolhapur, and Abhijit Shivajirao Yadav, a CID constable from Pirwadi, Kolhapur. The case began when Manoj Mohan Wadhwani, a resident of Tarabai Park, Kolhapur, filed a complaint at the Bhujan Police Station. Wadhwani had entrusted his vehicle to Patil with instructions to collect a substantial sum of money from a businessman in Pune.
However, during the transit, Patil was reportedly pursued by police, prompting him to abandon the vehicle on the side of the road. After fleeing the scene, Wadhwani discovered that the money had mysteriously vanished from the car. Upon receiving the complaint, Assistant Police Inspectors Ramesh Garje and Patang Patil launched an investigation. During the questioning of Patil, it was revealed that he had colluded with his associate, CID Constable Abhijit Patil, to divert the funds for personal gain.
In light of these findings, both Nilesh Patil and Abhijit Patil have been formally charged and a case has been registered against them at the Bhujan Police Station. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter, and further developments are expected as the case unfolds. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the vigilance required in financial dealings and the potential for corruption within public service.
