According to the police, Avsarikar is a professor and lives with his wife and daughter in a 3-storey building in Revenue Colony. He is currently staying at his home due to heavy rains. Important things will be kept at home.

Since his daughter studies at Modern High School, he dropped her off at school on the morning of July 24. At half past five in the evening he went to his house in the Revenue Colony. The door of his house was open. Items inside the house were charred in the fire. The burglars took away 2 US $50 notes, 20 thousand rupees, silver coins, silver flower pots, silver lamp and other items kept in a jerkin in a wooden cupboard. The Shivajinagar police are investigating.
