New Delhi, – President Mohammad Muizzu of the Maldives arrived in India today, where he was warmly welcomed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House. This visit marks a significant step toward bolstering the already strong bilateral relations between the two nations. During their meeting, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the historical ties that bind India and the Maldives. "The relations between India and Maldives are centuries old. India is Maldives' closest neighbor and close friend," he stated, reinforcing the importance of the Maldives in India’s Neighborhood First Policy and Sagar Vision. The discussions revolved around various aspects of cooperation, with particular focus on the newly adopted Comprehensive Economic and Maritime Security Partnership. "I would like to thank Prime Minister Modi for his assistance to Maldives, especially during our time of need," he said. He also mentioned the new comprehensive vision document that encompasses development, maritime security, trade partnerships, energy projects, and health initiatives.
