Hyderabad – In a significant ruling, a fast-track special judge in Rangareddy district has sentenced 23-year-old Mohammed Abdul Majeed to 10 years of imprisonment for the sexual assault of a minor. The verdict was delivered on Thursday, October 3, under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 16,000 on Majeed and ordered a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the victim, underscoring the court's commitment to justice for those affected by sexual crimes.
Majeed, a housekeeper at a Telangana minorities residential boys hostel and resident of Vattepally, Falaknuma, was arrested by the Saroornagar police in 2018. He was charged with engaging in sexual acts with a minor boy, leading to serious charges filed against him under Sections 377 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code, along with Section 3 of the Pocso Act in conjunction with Section 4.
Following the court's verdict, the Saroornagar police escorted Majeed to Cherlapally Central Prison, where he will serve his sentence. This case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement and the judiciary in Telangana to protect children and bring offenders to justice.
