Hyderabad: A recent tiger sighting in the forests of Khanapur municipality, located in Telangana’s Nirmal district, has sent ripples of alarm through nearby villages. On Friday, November 15, residents captured a video of the majestic big cat casually strolling through the forest, prompting immediate action from local authorities. The viral smartphone footage showcases the tiger roaming in its natural habitat, raising concerns among villagers about potential encounters. Following the sighting, the movements of the tiger have been reported to forest officials, and neighboring communities are now on high alert. This is not the first instance of a tiger being spotted in the region. Just five days prior, on November 10, a motorist filmed another tiger near the Nirmal-Amrabad border along National Highway 44.
This sighting, too, raised concerns among travelers as the big cat was seen wandering in the forested area between Kuntala and Sarangapur mandals. Telangana forest department officials confirmed they are closely monitoring the situation. A spokesperson noted that the tiger was last seen near the Ghanpur check post in the Boath range of Echoda division, Adilabad. “Our staff is monitoring the tiger daily,” they assured, emphasizing their commitment to both wildlife safety and community awareness. As the excitement and anxiety surrounding these tiger sightings grow, residents are reminded to remain vigilant and report any further encounters to the authorities. The forest department's ongoing surveillance aims to ensure the safety of both the local population and the majestic wildlife of Telangana.
