PUNE, India – A devastating incident occurred this morning in Bhosari, Pimpri-Chinchwad, where a water tank collapsed, resulting in the tragic deaths of five workers and leaving several others seriously injured. The accident took place around 8 a.m. as a group of laborers were bathing beneath the twelve-foot-high tank, which was erected to serve those living in the nearby labor camp. According to reports, the water tank, which was not constructed by the local municipal corporation, failed under unknown circumstances, leading to its sudden collapse. Immediate rescue efforts were launched, with the fire brigade and Pimpri-Chinchwad police arriving swiftly at the scene.
Tragically, five workers were pronounced dead on the spot, while six to seven others sustained serious injuries and were promptly transported to a private hospital for treatment. This incident has raised grave concerns regarding the construction safety standards in the area, particularly as the location has been flagged as a red zone.
