The reckless bet, aimed at adding thrill to the traditional celebrations, ended in disaster, highlighting the dangers of unsafe practices during the festival of lights. The incident occurred on October 31 when Sabreesh and his friends gathered to celebrate Diwali, a time known for its vibrant festivities and the bursting of firecrackers. After consuming alcohol, the group decided to amp up their celebrations with a dangerous challenge.
According to police reports, a friend proposed that if Sabreesh sat on the firecracker box, he would be rewarded with an autorickshaw ride and some food. Despite the apparent risks, Sabreesh agreed to the bet. A CCTV video captured the moments leading up to the tragedy, showing him sitting alone on the box while his friends lit the wick from a safe distance. Within seconds, the firecracker exploded, causing Sabreesh to collapse onto the road. His friends rushed to his side and immediately transported him to the hospital, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries on November 2.
