Abu Dhabi airfields has partnered with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security( ICP) to launch the world’s first- of- its-kind biometric ‘ Smart trip ’ design at the Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi. The design will be rolled out in three phases in collaboration with Coming 50, a company specializing in AI- grounded transportation results. The design utilises the databases of the ICP to automatically authenticate trippers using biometric technology, barring the need for previous enrollment for departing passengers. The end for Abu Dhabi airfields is to “ uphold aeronautics security and safety protocols ” within the field, as well as streamline the trip process for passengers, the Abu Dhabi Media Office( ADMO) reported. Abu Dhabi airfields and Etihad Airways launched a new terminal at Zayed International Airport in November 2023, enforcing biometric systems across multiple touchpoints. This includes automated rubberneck enrollment service, tone- service baggage delivery, and facial recognition verification ate-gates and boarding gates, without the need for trip documents or direct commerce with field staff. “ The Biometric Smart Travel design reduces the time to serve trippers from 25 seconds to just seven seconds, integrating ticket and trip document verification into a single process and easing the burden on mortal coffers by counting on smart gates for identity verification, ” Saeed Al Khaili, director general at the ICP, said. “ By 2025, we aim to expand these systems across all security and operations touchpoints and other airlines, ” Andrew Murphy, principal information officer at Zayed International Airport, said. The Biometric Smart Travel design at Zayed International Airport aims to ameliorate airline performance by reducing structure costs and detecting fraud and phony in identification documents.
