In the last few days, the Assam government has taken various decisions. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has taken another big decision today (August 30). The Assam government has decided to revise the two-hour namaz-e-janaza given to Muslim legislators in the state every Friday. The two-hour leave given to Muslim MLAs to offer namaz has been cancelled. According to this decision, this two-hour holiday will no longer be available.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
Every Friday for Jumma has been abolished. This practice was started by Syed Sadullah of the Muslim League in 1937. Grateful to the Speaker and honourable members of the Assam Legislative Assembly for this effort to preserve the ancient secular values of India, "Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said in a post on Twitter.

Meanwhile, the Assam Legislative Assembly used to be given a 2-hour break in the afternoon to offer namaz every Friday. This was a British tradition. During these two hours, every Friday, Muslim legislators were offering namaz. However, after the decision taken by the Assam government today, this holiday will no longer be available.

The Assam government took this decision a few days ago.
The Assam government on Tuesday (August 27) introduced a bill in the state assembly to make registration of Muslim marriages and divorces compulsory. After the Assam government introduced the bill in the Assembly, the opposition objected to it. However, the government did not table the bill in the House. The bill makes it mandatory for Muslims to register their marriages and divorces.

The decision to make registration of Muslim marriages and divorces mandatory was taken at a meeting of the state cabinet chaired by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The bill was later passed by the Assam Assembly. Earlier, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had said that the new bill introduced by the Assam government to make registration of Muslim marriages and divorces mandatory will not change the Muslim nikah system. However, only the registration will be changed. Also, marriage and divorce will be registered in the registrar's office of the administration. "
