Since, the end of the war between Israel and Hamas, the differences between Israel's leaders over who should control Gaza have come to the fore. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is facing criticism from two members of his War Ministry. They include Netanyahu's main political rival, Benny Gantz.

Gantz insists there should be an international administration in Gaza after the war. He has warned that if no such plan is made by June 8, he will leave the government. In the background of these developments, US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan is likely to meet Netanyahu and other Israeli leaders.

The US plans to support the administration in Gaza in order for Saudi Arabia to recognize Israel and grant Palestinian statehood. Netanyahu opposes giving Palestine statehood. On the other hand, Gantz has supported normalizing relations with Saudi Arabia and other Arab nations. However, he also warned that no one else should try to impose a Palestinian state on us.
