India strongly rejected and criticized the unfounded comments about Kashmir made by a Pakistani diplomat at a UN Security Council discussion on children and armed conflict, denouncing it as yet another usual effort to distract from ongoing serious violations against children in Pakistan.

I'll briefly address politically motivated and unfounded remarks made by a representative against my country in the interest of time. "I unequivocally reject and denounce these unfounded comments with the disdain they merit,” stated Ambassador R. Ravindra, Acting Charge Affaires and Deputy Permanent Representative of India at the UN on Wednesday.

He spoke while giving a speech at the UN Security Council's public discussion on Children and Armed Conflict. Ravindra described this as simply another regular effort to take focus away from the serious ongoing violations against children in his own country, as outlined in the latest report.

Ravindra stated that the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh will always be a fundamental and indisputable part of India, regardless of the beliefs or wishes of this representative or his country.

India reacted strongly in response to Pakistan's UN Ambassador Munir Akram discussing Jammu and Kashmir at length during the open debate on Children and Armed Conflict.

In Pakistan, during the period from January to December 2023, a report by the Secretary General on Children and Armed Conflict documented 78 serious violations involving 73 children (13 boys, 7 girls, 53 sex unidentified). Unidentified armed individuals reportedly killed and injured children, with one reported casualty.
