Sanjay Kumar Verma, the Indian High Commissioner to Canada, stated that Canada's accusation of Indian meddling is entirely incorrect. The Canadian MPs' report on the matter is not just politically inspired but also shaped by Sikh separatist advocates.

A group of Canadian MPs recently claimed, based on intelligence reports, that India and China pose the biggest foreign threats to Canada's democratic institutions. Sanjay Kumar Verma claimed that the report showed bias. India was not given a fair hearing. He stated that it is impacted by elements opposed to India. Canada must present solid proof regarding this issue.

He mentioned that if Canadian establishments are determined to harm relations with India, then it will be unstoppable. Canada is providing refuge for Sikh separatists. India has alleged that Canada is providing refuge to Sikh separatists seeking to establish a separate nation called Khalistan within India. In the previous year, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau mentioned the Indian government's role in the killing of Sikh separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

Nijjar was killed by gunshots in British Columbia in June 2023. Khalistani terrorists have been afforded ample political freedom in Canada. Verma stated that he anticipated their representatives had influenced the entire report.
