Russia's Defense Ministry announced on Thursday that their troops had seized control of Andriivka village, located southwest of Bakhmut in Ukraine's eastern Donetsk region. The Ukrainian General Staff later reported that Ukrainian forces were resisting three Russian attacks in the Andriivka and Novyi areas.

Ukrainian troops reclaimed Andriivka in September during a counteroffensive that faced challenges in penetrating Russian defenses. The Ukrainian military has stated that Russia is focusing its primary offensive efforts on the eastern front line in Ukraine.
